Omaha Firefighters Make Rescue In Building Fire

Investigators now look for the cause of a fire early Monday morning in Omaha.

The fire was in a vacant apartment building at 25th and Jones Streets near downtown.

The fire department says firefighters rescued a person on the second floor, and that person was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

It was reported around 2:30 a.m. and brought under control about an hour later.

A fence was up around the building that was marked vacant and dangerous.

Due to the vacant and dangerous classification, a defensive strategy was used with firefighters staying on the perimeter outside of the rescue.
