(Omaha, NE) -- An 18 year old Omaha man is facing charges after being caught with a gun near two north Omaha schools.

Omaha Police say Tuesday afternoon, the OPD Gang Unit was in the area of Benson High School and Monroe Middle School, when officers spotted a man they believed was previously known to them from a firearms arrest. OPD say due to the man's proximity to the schools, officers decided to investigate further.

Investigators say after making contact with Artayvion Whitcomb, officers found he was in possession of a gun and arrested him. Whitcomb is facing charges of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm on school grounds, and resisting arrest.
