Des Moines Public Schools Announces Former Olympian As New Superintendent

(Des Moines, IA) -- A former Olympic athlete and George Washington University D.C. Principal of the Year is being announced as the new head of Iowa's largest school district.

The Des Moines Public School board voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Ian Roberts, currently working as a top school administrator in northwest Pennsylvania.

A release from Des Moines Public Schools touts Roberts as a lifelong educator.

In taking the job, Roberts will manage a school system with an enrollment roughly 5 times larger than the one he's managing now.
