(Iowa City, IA) -- A manhunt is underway to find an attempted murder suspect, who cut off his tracking device while under house arrest.

Court documents say 19-year-old Ali Younes tried to strangle a woman in April 2022 on the University of Iowa campus. A judge granted Younes house arrest with his family in O'Brien County, as he waited for a trial. Police say the attempted murder suspect cut off his GPS monitor, fleeing the area.

Anyone with information about Younes is asked to call local law enforcement.
