Man Dies During Lengthy Standoff At Home In Lincoln

(Lincoln, NE) -- A man's dead after a lengthy standoff with law enforcement in Lincoln. It started around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday when officers were called to serve a protection order violation near 27th and Holdrege. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says the suspect refused to come out and made threats toward a nearby school and city building. A standoff began and over 12 hours later the sheriff's office says a gunshot was heard coming from inside the house. The suspect was found shot and he died in the hospital from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. His death is being investigated as an in-custody death.
