(Clive, IA) -- Two Iowa men who've worked together in Ames for decades are celebrating a hefty lottery prize. Randy Ferriss and Colton Snyder, who work at the USDA in Ames say they've pooled their resources to buy a few lottery tickets for years, but up until now the largest prize they had ever won was $100.

This week the Iowa Lottery announced a Mega Millions lottery ticket purchases at Casey's Convenience store in Nevada was worth $1 million. It was one of four tickets sold nationally worth $1 million from Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing.

Snyder says word spread quickly at work that a valuable ticket was purchased in Nevada, and he wondered out loud if it could possibly be a ticket purchased by his friend Randy, in their mini-office pool. Turns out it was, although Randy says he and Colton felt the need to verify the numbers several times before they finally believed they had such a valuable ticket.

Ferriss and Snyder claimed their prize today (Thursday) at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.
