Nebraska's state wide burn ban to be lifted on Thursday

(Lincoln, NE) -- Nebraska's statewide burn ban will be lifted Thursday night.

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen's statewide burn ban will expire at 11:59 PM Thursday. The order was put into place late last week to reduce the risk of wildfires. The ban was re-issued on Monday, as high winds and dry conditions persisted. The ban was supposed to be lifted Sunday night, but will be allowed to expire early.

The newly signed Executive Order will shift the authority to waive open burning back to local fire chiefs.
