Iowa Drought Deepens

(Undated) -- All of Iowa is either abnormally dry or in some form of drought. This week's U-S Drought Monitor also shows a spot in northwest Iowa's Woodbury County that has slipped into exceptional drought for the first time. Most of the state is in moderate drought. A large part of central and southeast Iowa are in severe drought. East central and far northeast Iowa are abnormally dry.

The National Weather Service says light showers are is possible in western and northwest Iowa today (Thursday), but rainfall amounts are expected to be light. Dry conditions are expected over the next several days. Temperatures are expected to be fairly mild, in the lower 50s and low 60s this weekend. Early next week temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s will be possible.
