(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man is charged with first-degree arson, accused of setting his mom's house on fire. Police say 33-year-old Christian Franklin admitted to pouring gas on a car in the garage of his mom's home near 40th and Kingman Sunday morning, then lighting it. Police say the garage became engulfed with flames but firefighters got the fire put out quickly and no one was hurt. Franklin was arrested later that day and will have a preliminary hearing next week. He's being held on $20,000 bond.
