Meta Awarding Grants To Several Central Iowa Organizations

(Altoona, IA) -- The Meta Data Center in Altoona is announcing several grants being given to local organizations. $12,000 is being given to the Altoona Area Historical Society by the company behind Facebook. Meta’s Community Action Grant program is also giving the Bondurant Community Library Foundation $20,000 to improve meeting spaces and technology. Another $10,000 is being given to each the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa and Iowa PBS online educational resources.

The company that owns Facebook is also awarding thousands of dollars to local school districts to improve technology in some schools. The Southeast Polk Community School District is receiving $11,000 for their high school and over $30,000 for all eight area elementary schools. Southeast Polk’s Delaware and Four Mile Elementary schools are each being given over $10,000 for improving STEM teaching. $40,000 is being given to the Bondurant-Farrar Community School District to elevate technological learning opportunities for students.

The total amount of the grants being given out is over $200,000.
