Iowa Supreme Court Says Finkenauer Can Appear on Primary Ballot

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Former Iowa Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer will be on June's Democratic U.S. Senate Primary Election ballot.

The Iowa Supreme Court Friday unanimously reverses a District Court ruling that said Finkenauer didn't have enough valid petition signatures to appear on the ballot.

The high court's ruling backs the State Objections Board's March 29th determination that state law didn't specifically say petition signatures missing the dates of signing should be rejected.

The Iowa Supreme Court's ruling also comes in the face of a federal deadline to have primary election ballots printed and ready for mailing to overseas and military voters by April 23rd.

Finkenauer will now appear on June primary ballot with fellow Democrats Mike Franken and Glenn Hurst.
