(Lincoln, NE) -- The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will begin accepting lottery ticket applications next week for mountain lion permits for the 2022 hunting season.

The applications will be accepted from November 1st through December 8th for the 2022 hunting season. Permits are available only to Nebraska residents.

Game and Parks states the "season will allow up to four mountain lions to be harvested, with up to two of those being females." The release says the season will close immediately if four mountain lions, or two female mountain lions, are harvested.

Season 1 in the Pine Ridge Unit will run January 2nd through February 28th. 320 permits will be issued and hunting with dogs will not be permitted.

If the limit is not met, the Game and Parks states an Auxiliary Season will be held March 12th though March 31st, following the same regulations as before. Permits obtained for Season 1 would transfer to the Auxiliary season for unsuccessful hunters.
