Man charged with Attempted Murder in Cedar Rapids shooting

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids Police have charged a man in a November shooting. Police say 34-year-old Tyler John Koob has been charged with Attempted Murder in a shooting November 28th, at 1027 9th Street SW.

Investigators say Koob knocked on the door of the property that night, and two men stepped outside. Police say the men did not know each other. Police say Koob started yelling, leading to an altercation, and gunfire. Police say Koob's accused of pointing and firing a handgun at a 49-year-old man outside the property. The bullet hit the building behind the victim where others were gathered. Police say the 49-year-old man was armed, and fired when Koob was allegedly pointing his gun at the man again. Koob was hit and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police arrested Koob Wednesday and took him to the Linn County Jail.

Koob is charged with Attempted Murder, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault-Going Armed with Intent, and Carrying Weapons.
