Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament Bringing Thousands Downtown

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament kicks off today from Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines.

The tournament traditionally brings in tens of thousands of Iowans to it's capitol city, but this year the COVID pandemic is limiting attendance.

The Iowa Events Center is only selling 4,000 tickets to this weekend's events, and the prices have gone up.

It's $15 per session and $20 for the tournament finals.

Masks and social distancing are required inside the Iowa Events Center, Wells Fargo Arena, and Hy-Vee Hall.

Parking is located off of 5th Street for $10.

The team tournament, State Duals begin at 9 a.m. today.

Individual competition begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with first round, Class 1A contests.
