Tripoli Schools to Reopen Monday After COVID-19 Deep Cleaning

BREMER COUNTY, Iowa - Tripoli Schools plans to open classrooms back up Monday after closing today over a staff member testing positive for COVID-19.

The district's superintendent says the three day closure gives custodians time to deep clean school buildings and classrooms.

"We are terribly sorry for this inconvenience, but we are hoping this mitigation, along with a three-day weekend, will help with our current measures and procedures as we move forward in fighting this virus," said Tripola District Superintendent Troy L. Heller.

The Tripola district is in Bremer County, which had the 11th highest COVID-19 positivity rate in Iowa (22.5 percent) as of Friday morning.

Tripoli School Nurse Diane Danner urged families to take measures to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

"We ask that you take this seriously and help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our area," said Danner. "Please practice social distancing, wear a mask in public, and stay home if you are sick. We encourage all of you to continue following the CDC’s recommendations to remain healthy and well."
