Newton Man Arrested After Threatening to Sneeze on Hospital Staff

NEWTON, Iowa - A Newton man is facing multiple charges after police say he threatened hospital staff after refusing to wear a mask.

According to police, 40 year-old Jerad Oldham refused to put on a mask at MercyOne Newton Hospital and told the staff he would sneeze in the face of anyone to asked him to put a mask on.

One staff member said Oldam threatened to fight him and used a racial slur.

Police say Oldham damaged property during the incident.

He's currently being held in the Jasper County Jail.
