Stuart Man Gets 40 Years For 2019 Standoff, Shooting at Police

DES MOINES, Iowa -A man who barricaded himself in a stand-off after shooting two officers at his Guthrie County apartment will serve a 40 term.

Fifty-three year-old Randall Comley of Stuart was sentenced Thursday in Des Moines after federal prosecutors say he attempted to kill four officers in October of last year.

Deputies and Police were trying to serve Comley with arrest warrants for arson and probation violation when they say he ambushed them and fired shots before barricading himself.

He eventually gave himself up, and then pleaded guilty to numerous charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Comly has a lengthy criminal history, including three prior felony drug trafficking convictions. Based on Comly’s criminal history, the Court found him to be an armed career criminal.
