American Airlines cutting flights to Dubuque and Sioux City

FORT WORTH, Texas -- American Airlines is cutting service to a pair of Iowa cities.

The airline said Thursday it's cutting service to Dubuque, Sioux City, and 13 other U.S. cities because of low demand and the end of air service requirements under the federal CARES Act for relief from business slow-downs caused by the coronavirus.

American says the suspensions are start October 7th and will be in effect until at least November 3rd .

The Trasportation Security Administration says almost 700,000 passengers a day went through airports for the week that ended Sunday, August 16th--the highest numbers since March.

Before COVID-19, that daily average was more than two-million passengers.
