DART Bus Driver Tests Positive for COVID-19

DES MOINES, Iowa - A bus driver for the Des Moines Area Regional Transit (DART) has tested positive for COVID-19/Coronavirus.

The transit company says the employee has not worked since April 22nd, and began experience virus symptoms the following day.

The driver will continue to receive full pay while quarantining at home for 14 days. DART say all common areas in its facilities have been sanitized and deep cleaned since this employee last worked.

The company began a new procedure Monday requiring all DART employees reporting to work to complete an in-person wellness screening at the start of their workday.

This is the second DART employee to test positive for the virus. A maintenance worker tested positive last Wednesday, April 22nd.

DART says its performing daily cleaning and sanitizing of all its vehicles, and common spaces of its facilities.

The transit earlier suspending fares and has been asking riders to get on and off buses using the back doors.
