DES MOINES, Iowa -- A construction worker is dead after being hit by a car in Des Moines' Beaverdale neighborhood.
Des Moines Police say it happened just before noon Monday when the worker, who was down in a hole, was hit by a car traveling eastbound on Douglas.
The driver told police he lost control of the car and hit the worker after his dog jumped his lap.
Police say worker is a 41-year-old man from Des Moines. His name's not been released.
The driver of the car is a 71-year-old man also from Des Moines. Police have yet to release his name.
There's no word on criminal charges in the incident.
