Iowa Weekly Jobless Claims Down, Ongoing Unemployment Up

DES MOINES, Iowa - Weekly jobless claims in Iowa are down by almost 16,000...from about 43,889 to 27,912.

Continuing jobless claims have increased by almost 25,000, from 126,332 to 151,846, which means the unemployment rate in the state is rising.

A total of $48,091,551.28 of unemployment insurance benefits were paid to people making claims in Iowa for the same week. That's up $10.2 million from the previous week, but sharply down a $27.2 million a week earlier.

  • Manufacturing (5,143)
  • Health Care & Social Assistance (3,985)
  • Industry Not Available - Self-employed, Independent Contractors, etc. (3,817)
  • Retail Trade (3,307)
  • Accommodation & Food Services (2,606)

A total of $169,633,800 was paid to 253,557 Iowans in Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) benefits.
