DES MOINES, Iowa- Metro Waste Authority says Spring Clean-ups in Des Moines and surrounding communities are cancelled, due to COVID-19.
Communities postponed include Altoona, Bondurant, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Johnston, Mitchellville, Pleasant Hill, Runnells, Urbandale, and West Des Moines.
“The current public health emergency is effecting many aspects of our daily lives, and spring clean-up in some communities is no exception,” Metro Waste Authority Executive Director Michael McCoy said.
“To date, eleven spring clean-up events are postponed, along with large item pickup,” McCoy said.
Residents can take large items to Metro Park East Landfill, which is open regular hours. “We are committed to providing safe, smart disposal; and we are grateful for the resources we have to continue serving the changing needs of the metro.
