Iowa's AG Joins Generic Drug Lawsuit

DES MOINES, Iowa-- Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller joined AG's in 43 other states in a federal lawsuit against some of the nation's largest generic drug manufacturers. Miller and the others say there was a conspiracy to inflate and manipulate prices, reduce competition and restrain trade for more than 100 different drugs.

The AGs say the alleged schemes increased prices affecting the health insurance market, taxpayer-funded programs like Medicare and Medicaid, and people who must pay artificially inflated prices.

The complaint alleges the drug manufacturers engaged in a broad, coordinated and systematic campaign to conspire with each other to fix prices, allocate markets and rig bids.
