Regents Consider UI, ISU Tuition Hike

URBANDALE, Iowa-- Students at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa could see their tuition bills go up next year. The Iowa Board of Regents will consider a nearly four percent tuition hike for both schools as it meets Wednesday in Urbandale. Tuition at Iowa would go up by $339 for residents, $336 for out-of-state students. At Iowa State, it would increase by $332 for Iowans, and more than $1,100 for non-residents. Tuition stays the same at Northern Iowa. The increase is higher than three percent the Regents suggested earlier this year if it got it's full state appropriations request. The Board wanted $18 million. The Legislature allocated $12 million.
