Cedar Rapids man wanted "doitforstate.com"-it'll cost him 20 years

Someone wanted the internet domain name "doitforstate.com" so bad that he pistol whipped a Cedar Rapids man and used a taser on him to get it.

43 year old Sherman Hopkins Junior of Cedar Rapids has been sentenced in federal court to 20 years in prison.   Court documents show Hopkins at gunpoint ordered the victim to transfer the domain to his GoDaddy account.

In a struggle for Hopkins' gun, the victim was shot in the leg, but was able to shoot Hopkins several times in the chest.

Hopkins pled guilty last December to charges in the case, which was the first prosecution in the Northern District of Iowa  involving an attempt to steal an internet domain name.
