It seems me that the Democrats are telling the public to listen to their interpretation of the memo rather than actually READ the memo.
Because the facts in the memo don't ease my concerns over our government spying on a Presidential campaign when that campaign represents the party that is out of power.
According to the memo:
1) The FBI interviewed Carter Page, one of Trump’s former campaign advisers, about his “Russian intelligence contacts” in March of 2016 — the same month he was named as a Trump campaign adviser, and months before Steele as hired to conduct research on Trump or first made contact with the FBI.
2) However, the memo admits that the FBI sought a warrant to spy on Page based on opposition research paid for by the Clinton campaign. It simply alleges that the court granted the FISA warrant did know who paid for the information.
3) The memo says the FBI had information independent of the opposition research to confirm the allegations in the research BUT the memo does not directly challenge the Republican assertion that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe testified to the House Committee that they would not have sought the Page surveillance warrant if it hadn’t been for the dossier.
SO it seems to me that the main source of my concern has been confirmed by the Democratic "rebuttal." I'm just being told by Democrats not to worry about it.
