Flash flooding in Ottumwa and Eastern Iowa overnight

Storms late Wednesday night found cars in Ottumwa and Davenport stalled out due to street flooding.

Around 2am, Davenport Police reported at least two intersections had a number of cars with water up to the doors stalled at several intersections.  A flash flood warning was issued for Rock Island, Scott and Muscatine counties until 8am.

In Ottumwa, police reported water was one foot deep around 5:15am on South Iowa Avenue north of Highway 34.  Some south side Ottumwa areas had water up to the floor boards on cars...stalling them out in the middle of the street.  The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning until 9:30am for Wapello County.

Davenport had more than flash flooding to deal with.  The Davenport Fire Department says the strong storms that came through had lightning that caused at least three fires Wednesday night.
