Iowa woman admits stealing from school nutrition non-profit

The former director of a statewide nonprofit organization representing nearly a thousand school, nutrition employees is accused of taking nearly 167-thousand dollars from the organization.

Iowa State Auditor Mary Mosiman says the funds included checks submitted to Norma Lamantia on behalf of the association, but instead of being deposited in proper bank accounts, the were depoited in personal accounts of Lamantia.   

Much of the funds included dues and fees, paid for by school districts, and payments from food companies.

Norma LaMantia of Davenport ran the the School Nutrition Association of Iowa, between 2010 and 2016, when she resigned after being confronted about the organization's finances.

She admitted she took the money to support her gambling addiction.    

Copies of the report have been sent to the Davenport Police Department and the Scott County Attorney's Office.
