It is just about the middle of September and still water demand is high in Des Moines thanks to the heat wave.
Water Works Director Bill Stowe says the water supply is still good.
Stowe said, "The Corps of Engineers does a great job of storing water on the Des Moines River above us at the Saylorville Reservoir, so we're not terribly concerned about the amount of water out there for us."
Stowe says people are still irrigating but it is less than it would have been had the heat wave hit in early to mid August.
Stowe says the water supply is still adequate to handle the demand.
