(Sherrard, IL) -- A Sherrard, Illinois woman is facing charges after hundreds of dogs were recovered from her rural home.

Mercer County Animal Control says they received a complaint about animal welfare at the home of 59 year-old Karen Plambeck. The Mercer County Sheriff's Office says officers served a warrant at Plambeck's home and rescued 198 dogs from her property. Plambeck was taken into custody and charged with aggravated animal cruelty. She later posted bond at the Mercer County Jail.

Mercer County Animal Control is looking for new homes for the dogs but is not yet asking for volunteers.
